Voxera is the college's platform for learning sessions run by students and mentors. Only college Google accounts can sign in. This page says what Voxera keeps about you, who can see it, and what you can ask for. Voxera is in open beta, so expect it to change, and this page with it.
What Voxera keeps
- Your Google profile. When you sign in, Google gives Voxera your name, college email address and profile photo. Voxera never sees your Google password.
- What you add to your profile. Your department and photo. Mentors also add a bio, skills, domains and certifications. Mentor applications include the certificates you upload.
- What you do in Voxera. Sessions you propose or host, registrations and waitlist places, attendance, the ratings and feedback you leave, support tickets and their attachments, and the notifications Voxera sends you.
- Your signed-in devices. For each device, its IP address and browser. That's what lets you see them, and sign them out, under Settings → Account & devices.
- Problem reports. A report raised with the header's "Report a problem" button carries the page you were on, the app version and your browser. The form shows you this before you send it.
- Diagnostics. To find errors, the server can record each request's route, outcome, timing and browser, with your account's ID and role, and pages can report how fast they loaded. These records never contain your email address, what you typed or the contents of the database.
What it's used for
Voxera uses this to run sessions, registrations and waitlists, to send reminders and updates, to show mentors and admins how sessions went, to answer support tickets, and to keep the service working and secure. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not used to track you on other sites.
Who can see what
- Everyone signed in can see published sessions and the name, photo and mentor profile of the mentor running them. Other students can't see that you registered.
- Mentors see the names on their own sessions' rosters, so they can mark attendance. They see ratings and comments without the name of whoever left them.
- Admins, the college staff and students who run Voxera, can see accounts, activity, mentor applications and support tickets, because they need to in order to run it and answer you.
Services Voxera relies on
The app and its database run on a server on the college network. A few outside services handle one job each:
- Google for signing in.
- Resend to deliver email.
- UploadThing to store photos, certificates and ticket attachments.
- Ably for live updates while a page is open.
Cookies and your browser
Voxera's cookies only keep you signed in. Your browser also remembers a few preferences on your device, like your theme, unsent drafts and which release notes you've read. There are no advertising or third-party analytics cookies.
How long it's kept
What you create during the beta is kept when Voxera leaves beta. It isn't reset. Your records stay for as long as your account exists.
What you can ask for
You can change your profile in Settings at any time, and sign out any device there. To get a copy of your data, correct something you can't edit yourself, or have your account deleted, raise a ticket under Account & sign-in on the support page. The team will reply in the ticket. If you can't sign in, ask a Voxera admin at the college.
